Another year older, another year wiser. I think that’s how it’s supposed to go anyway. On Friday I turned 22 and I had a lovely day full of as much cake and prosecco that my body could handle (I’m actually drinking a mimosa while I’m writing this).
I have a really good feeling about the next year and I have so much that I want to do by my 23rd birthday. Here are just a few of them…
Run a half marathon
I’m getting more and more into running at the minute and I’ve come to enjoy it – that’s definitely something I didn’t think I’d ever write.
Each week I’ve been running a little further than the previous not just for improvement’s sake, but because I want to take part in the Great North Run next year. It seems much more realistic than telling myself I’m going to run a full marathon, considering this time last year I literally didn’t run at all.
Travel alone
One thing I’ve never done is flown alone so I’d love to travel to a different country on my own. I think I’ve nailed the train and the Megabus and I’m ready for a new challenge. There are so many places I want to visit so hopefully this year will be full of travelling and new adventures, with the odd glass of prosecco along the way of course.
Start using Duolingo again
I’ve used Duolingo on and off for a couple of years but always end up forgetting about it I’d love to either finish off the entire French section or start a complete new language.
Read one book a month
I’m going to be honest – uni really put me off reading altogether. I used to love it but I think having to read chapter after chapter of media law and the history of journalism just took the bookworm out of me.
It’d be nice to starting reading for enjoyment again. I have stacks and stacks of books that are either unfinished or untouched so it’d be good to finally get round to reading them. I’d love to have read hundreds of books by this time next year but I think one a month is probably a manageable place to start.
Watch a play at Shakespeare’s Globe
This is something I’ve been meaning to do since I moved to London but I never got round to it. I’ve walked past Shakespeare’s Globe so many times but always forget to make a solid plan to actually go and watch something there. The Shakespeare geek in me is dying to go and see Macbeth.
As always, thank you for reading!
